Image Capture Studios is concerned about our planet's future. Environmental sustainability is important to us and to this end we are working towards becoming 100% carbon neutral by the year 2025.
In order for us to have the lowest carbon footprint tomorrow, we must make changes today. We are currently employing various practices to reduce our (GHG) emissions and continue to execute new ones. It is our hope, that these efforts will enable ICS's print customers to make a conscious and environmentally friendly choice regarding their printing needs.
We are not in the paper manufacturing business; however we do have the choice of which paper we buy and who we buy from. We use FSC Certified paper and print media for a large part of what we do and although we are not a FSC Certified printer, we do our best to work within FSC guidelines and strive toward full certification and accreditation.
FSC-certified papers contain FSC-certified wood fibre from well-managed forests and or post consumer recycled content and other controlled forest friendly sources. FSC-certified forests protect wildlife habitat and endangered species and waterway. FSC is the only forest certification standard supported by organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund of Canada, Sierra Club of Canada and Greenpeace. FSC also certifies the recycled content of paper due to lack of a credible verification process for most recycled papers.
The print industry as a whole has impacts on the environment at every stage. The life cycle of paper from the forest to mill; printer to consumer and finally to recycling or disposal all emit CO2 along the way. The environmental benefits of making better paper choices are enormous. Simply by using less paper or papers with recycled content saves trees, water, energy and money.
Image Capture Studios has implemented a customer driven "Green Program" designed to reduce our footprint and to have a positive impact on our environment. A (2%) two percent Green Fee is added to each print job to offset carbon emissions. With the help of our customers, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, pollution and waste.
